What these calculators are

CalcPit provides free estimating tools. They apply published trade formulas to the measurements you enter and return a quantity. They are an estimating aid — not an engineering calculation, not a structural design, and not a substitute for a qualified professional.

What they are not

Every result is an estimate. Site conditions, local building codes, material specifications, waste and workmanship all change the real quantity. Verify against your local code and your supplier's published specifications before you order material or cut anything.

This matters most on the electrical and structural calculators. Conductor sizing, breaker selection and voltage drop depend on installation method, ambient temperature, conductor bundling and local amendments that a general-purpose calculator cannot know. Work covered by the National Electrical Code must be designed and inspected by someone qualified to do so.

No warranty

The calculators are provided "as is". We work hard to get the formulas right — every one is unit-tested against hand-worked examples, and the formula used is printed on each page so you can check it yourself — but we make no warranty that a result is accurate, complete or fit for your particular job.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, an independent publisher is not liable for any loss, cost, damage or injury arising from reliance on a result produced by this site, including over-ordered or under-ordered material, rework, delay or consequential loss.

Acceptable use

You may use these calculators freely, including commercially, for your own estimating work. You may not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, republish its content wholesale, or present the tools as your own.
